SAGE Journals Online

As part of our commitment to electronic publishing SAGE provides electronic access to most journals. For the first time journals published by SAGE India will also be available electronically in 2005. To facilitate electronic access to our journals we have just launched our new online journal delivery platform. SAGE Journals Online offers a new and more powerful way to access SAGE journal content. The platform represents one of the largest collections in the social sciences.

Developed by HighWire Press, the new platform hosts prestigious and highly cited SAGE Journals and provides users with dramatically enhanced features and functionality. It is now easier than ever to access SAGE content online. Our subscribers will also benefit from enhanced subscription options and convenient administration of your online account. The site provides flexible and customizable searching, browsing by topic based on subject taxonomies, and a high level of reader customization - favorite journals, linking tools, search re-execution, and e-mail alerts.

Each electronic subscription to one of our journals includes:

• Permanent electronic access rights to the volume subscribed
• Access rights to articles from previous volumes where available as long as a subscription is maintained
• The right to download articles and make copies for course material and electronic reserve collections without payment of a fee or seeking prior permission.

Activating your subscription
Once your subscription has been entered through a subscription agent or directly with SAGE, to activate electronic access you should go to http://online.sagepub.com and click the activation button and follow the instructions on screen. Activation is only required once for each SAGE Account Number and is only required the first time users set up their account. During the activation process you may select IP or username/password recognition. SAGE Journals Online supports Athens authentication.

Rolling Back File
Combined and E-access subscriptions include temporary access to a rolling five-year back file. A paid subscription order for 2005 provides perpetual access to the purchased content (the volume published in 2005) and temporary access to the rolling 5-year back file (the volumes published in 2000 - 2004). Temporary access will continue so long as the paid Combined or E-access subscription is renewed for 2006. However, in 2006, the rolling 5-year back file will be inclusive of volumes published in 2001 - 2005.

Please note that this facility will not be available initially for SAGE India journals. We hope to be able to provide this facility later in the year.

Intermediaries
In addition to SAGE Journals Online, SAGE journals are also available through the following online access intermediaries: EBSCOhost Electronic Journals Service, OCLC FirstSearch Electronic Collections Online, SwetsWise and Minerva. SAGE makes no additional charge (beyond the subscription costs) for access via intermediaries. However, the intermediaries may charge for the use of their service. Please note that SAGE content will continue to be hosted on Ingenta until 31st December 2004.

New Institutional Pricing Structure
SAGE Publications is pleased to announce a new institutional pricing structure for the 2005 subscription year offering institutional subscribers three subscription options to better meet the evolving needs of the academic, research and corporate communities. Please note that individual subscribers can only select the Print-only option.

1. Combined Institutional Subscription - a Combined Institutional Subscription includes E-Access (which provides site-wide online access to all content in the volume) and a print copy of each issue included in the volume for that title.
2. E-Access Institutional Subscription - an E-Access Institutional Subscription (which provides site-wide online access to all content in the volume) is offered at a 5% discount off the Combined Institutional Subscription rate and does not include copies of the print version of the Journal.
3. Print-Only Institutional Subscription - the Print-only Institutional Subscription is offered at 4% off the Combined Institutional Subscription rate.

Until 2004, subscriptions to SAGE journals (for which E-access is available) were sold as Combined Institutional Subscriptions.
